My ranch house is in the Valley of the Moon, four miles north of the town of Sonoma, two miles south of Glen Ellen. One hour from San Francisco. It is surrounded by vineyards and a eucalyptus grove. No obtrusive neighbors, a superb setting that gives a sense of privacy and spaciousness without a feeling of isolation. Two wineries are within walking distance.
I have owned the house since 1978 and my family and I use it on weekends. Its layout is standard single-story ranch (2200 sq ft), white with blue trim. It is easy to maintain. Perfect for a getaway. Ideal for kids.
The swimming pool is 28 ft long, in the ground, unheated, surrounded by a redwood fence with childproof gate. The pool is serviced.
You enter the house by French doors and French doors lead from the living room, which has a fireplace, two couches and a long window seat, to the deck, which has chaises and a round picnic table.
There are three bedrooms, (containing a queen, a queen, and two twins). In the very large, carpeted (but otherwise empty) playroom, there are two twin beds and a VCR.
The kitchen is large and well equipped: Mexican tile floor, cathedral ceiling, knotty pine cabinets, and industrial stove (Wolf range), Amana microwave, Maytag dishwasher, an 8ft dining table, and a sofa. Lots of Caphalon pots, coffee maker, good knives, etc. There is a Maytag washer/dryer in a closet, off the playroom.
Outside there is also a picnic table under a mulberry tree and a Weber grill. For recreation: a basketball hoop, a swing and a climbing bar, horseshoes. An acre of pasture. An unused greenhouse. An unused horsebarn. Surrounded by vineyards.
Pets are not allowed. Children are welcome. You may use my sheets and towels.
Nearby: B.R. Cohn Winery, Jack London State Park, Sonoma National Golf Course, Maxwell Village Park (two tennis courts, miniature golf, a big field for kites, children's playground, bike trail).
