Twenty-five miles Northeast of Florence ties a colorful small town by the name of Dicomano. Nestled in the nearby hills is a cluster of homes on a small farm that for 700 years was the summer retreat of the Archbishop of Fiesole, the historic town that overlooks Florence. Once upon a time the bishop's arrival to Turicchi was announced by fires lit on the nearby hills. Today this cluster of homes belongs our friends who have graciously offered this fully restored retreat to our guests from around the world.
The home available to the public has two bedrooms (with a sofa bed if desired), a vaulted ceiling living room with fire place, a separate dining room, one bathroom, fully supplied kitchen, and private garden. The home comes with all amenities including bed linen, kitchen utensils, bathroom towels,, etc. There is even a payphone for those calls back home or to the local travel agent.
Although Dicomano is well served by local trains and buses a rent-a-car to get one up the hill to the house, run errands, etc. is a must. From Dicomano it is easy to arrange to make day trips by car or public transport throughout Tuscany. Certainly we will be happy to provide for such excursions. Besides day trips the local area is filled with places of historic value (e.g. Grotto's birthplace, a church visited by Dante's flight into exile, etc.). There is also endless opportunity for hiking (running), cycling (both road and mountain bike), visiting local markets, and so much more.
